shell table
Finding and valuing shells that have been broken, eaten, buffeted by sediment, is a parallel pursuit to finding and valuing overlooked elements and spaces in the city, that do not conform to aesthetic norms.
Making new sense of the shell fragments is like making new sense of places in city. It doesn’t work to turn the picture upside down… that there is something anchoring the photo into the foreground, so with shell table, you cannot reconstruct shape of shell, which frees it to be considered in relation with other shell fragments.
Finding affiliations among the shell fragments to put them together is parallel to finding affiliations of color, material, geometry of horizontal and vertical surfaces of the city.
